Northwest Shelter Systems: Your Fallout Shelter Builders

It’s unfortunate that we live in a world where nuclear explosions are even possible. However, you can’t afford to ignore today’s realities. Instead, we must prepare ourselves in case the need to protect our families and loved ones arises.

Since 1990, Northwest Shelter Systems has focused on our mission of providing customers with bomb shelters of the highest quality. Our technicians have traveled all over North America designing and installing customized shelters. You can be confident knowing you’ll benefit from their 120 years of collective industry experience.

When you choose us as your underground bunker builders, our employees will work for you. We don’t use local contractors, so your security plans will remain confidential.

We can virtually place your underground concrete shelter anywhere but the idea is to keep it hidden so in the event that you need it, you and your family will be safe. Regrettably we live in a world today where if someone else knew where you shelter was hidden, they may feel and act upon the fact their family needs it more than yours. Sad to have to think the people in our safe free America can be that way but if you are going to protect your family, let’s protect the location of your shelter too. Therefor the entrance to your shelter should be hidden in an area you can access easily but also looks inconspicuous to anybody else. We have put elevators in that go from a floor in a house to the tunnel of their hidden survival shelter. When the elevator was in place the top of it was disguised to match the design of the woodwork on the floor and nobody would ever know it was there without being shown. We have made entrances from behind walls in basements, through floors in tool and garden sheds. Also entrances from barns, garages and even through a small old tornado shelter. If you think about all the safety thing you automatically do today to protect your family, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home, seat belts in your vehicle, locking you doors at night, even teaching your children about the dangers of strangers. It is sadly just a part of life anymore that we have to worry about other people, but we do. So why go to all the time, effort and money to build a shelter to protect your family then let people know about it that can compromise the safety of your family that you just worked so hard to acquire? That is why we strive to keep your privacy your business.

Protecting Your Privacy and Security Is Our Concern!

We keep your privacy your business. If you buy a prefabricated shelter you have to have it delivered. That is a minimum of 1 to 2 people at your site that now knows what you have there. Then you will need a crane and operator to take it off the truck and place in said ground, adding again 1 or 2 more local people who knows it’s there and now the location of it. Then you have to have it buried in the ground which means at least 1 or 2 local operators with equipment to dig a hole where you want to put it and then bury it. And after you bury it in the ground, you will have to have concrete delivered and poured over the whole thing, this will include several more local people who now know what you have, where it is located and most likely where the entrance to it will be. Chances are some of those people will most likely mention it to a buddy, family member or colleague. I mean come on, that’s a pretty interesting topic. That is a great deal of locals that now know where you are hiding your families safety. Not to mention if you have local contractors come inside to install Vault blast doors, NBC filtration systems and the finishing work you require. How many local people are we up to now? So if you want your privacy kept let us at NWSS take care of it for you. This is a typical way an underground concrete bomb shelter is born.

  • You contact NWSS via phone or email and we answer all your questions and concerns. We will walk you through the process and what to expect with the building of a survival shelter.
  • You decide to take the next step and request one of our experienced engineers to come out for a site evaluation.
  • One of our experts comes out to your location and inspects where you want to place your shelter, the size you want, where you want your entrance to be and how it will be hidden (through basement, garage, tool shed, elevator, etc.) they will go over any and all of your concerns and walk you through the process of constructing and approximate costs of the shelter.
  • After the site evaluation and you make the decision to move forward with protecting your family with a hidden underground NBC shelter, we will then deploy a crew to your location. Our crew members respect and protect your privacy. We send a crew depending on the size of your shelter usually 4 or 5 experienced hard working men. They bring our equipment including our own concrete pump and our crew does all the work. If they are required to rent equipment, one of our crew will pick it up and run it themselves and then return it. No local people are ever invited to your shelter site from our company. We strive to protect your privacy.
  • You are welcome to be involved every step of the way (not working). We want you to feel free to watch, ask question and make reasonable changes as the work is in progress.
  • When your new underground bomb shelter is finished, the crew leader will take you for a final walk through and explain to you how your equipment operates, like the NBC filtration system and the concrete filled vault blast door. He will answer any of your questions, address all of your concerns, and leave you with manuals on your new equipment.
  • When our crew leaves your site, they clean up all of the construction debris, gather their equipment and depart without jeopardizing your privacy.

Do you want to take that step to protect your family or business but not you’re not really sure where to start just give us a call and we will help you through it. Not worried about a nuclear attack but still want to protect your family from another threat? There are different levels of protection like maybe you just want a safe room (or panic room is another name for it).

What is a safe room? A panic room is another name for safe room. Most security experts use the expression Safe Room instead of Panic Room to define the idea of having a high security location within your home. The concept is relatively easy, we build you a room inside of your own home where you and your family can safely retreat and hide during a home invasion or other dangerous threat and call the police for help.

Consider a safe room like a cube with only one way in with a secure vault door. We simply reinforce all six sides of the cube and hide a high security vault door leading into it. We at NWSS build some of these safe rooms more like a survival room or bank vault some that have as much as eight-inch concrete walls and a concrete filled vault blast door. These higher security designed safe rooms are also used to store such items as cash, valuable jewelry, and collections. We also have built other security rooms where we have reinforced the walls and equipped the safe room with a video monitor system, a cellular type telephone, and also with a high level security alarm keypad.

Don’t get your ideas from the movies, most people want a safe room that is simply built to give them enough time to get inside, secure the vault door and activate an alarm or call the police for help. There are numerous reasons for a safe room, with the most common being fear of assault from a home invasion suspect or even an abusive spouse. Other reasons can be but not limited to celebrities, politicians or just people that are considered to be very wealthy and or have serious enemies to construct a safe room is the fear of robbery and or the horror of kidnapping for ransom or revenge.

Do you know what the statistics are that an intruder will find his or her way into your home? You will be amazed, so let me enlighten you on the latest facts. Surprisingly, the United States leads the world in the occurrence of burglaries and about every 15 seconds a burglary occurs; that’s 4 home intrusions in every minute.

Almost every day there is news of home invasion that turned into murder. What could be more horrifying or lethal than home invasion, especially if it could possibly end up in murder?

Home invasion, includes all crimes including burglary, robbery, battery, assault, rape and of course murder. According to the information collected by the Data USA and FBI –

  • Most of the home intruder come in through the front door.
  • One home invasion occurs every 15 seconds.
  • 1 out of 5 homes that are victimized by an intruder consist of murder or some form of a violent crime.

These are alarming statistics. It has also been detected that insecure homes are more targeted by criminals. The criminals seem to feel that even if your home has a security system, that you most likely will not activate it until you are going to bed. So therefore, the perfect time to invade your home is before bedtime, which raises the risk much higher for it to end in a violent manner or even murder.

Home Intruders

An intruder usually is typically a stoned faced, weapon carrying, hardened criminal, and puts you and your family at their mercy. If their demands not met, such as handing over your key, valuables, cash or whatever they demand, the result could be violent and/or even fatal.

The suspect most of the time will come in right through the front door, pretty gutsy huh? Well if there is no security alarm or if someone has not activated it, then it is very easy. While many home invaders may just kick the door wide open, others sometimes just knock on the door or ring the bell. Surprising right? I bet you never thought that someone wanting to invade your home would be so bold as to come calling like they were your friend or welcomed guest?

According to some statistics, home invaders will also pretend to be a delivery man, cable guy, a maintenance worker or even a police officer or undercover detective to fool you into giving them access into your house. Some have even pretended that their car broke down car and they would really appreciate it, if you would let them use your phone to call for a tow truck. They may even go so far as to say that have children waiting in that car so you will feel sorry for them and possibly not use your best judgment. These criminal have made a life out of scamming others and they know how to do it.

These reports also show that the burglars do not discriminate among their victims. It does not matter whether you are rich or poor just so long as you make an easy target.

Murder: Statistics The United States Department of Justice conducted a study and released its special findings on National Crime Victimization in September 2010. According to this report;

  • Approximately 3.7 million home invasions occurred every year from the years 2003 to 2007. A member of the household was present is 28% of them. 7% of the family members were victimized.
  • In 65% of the burglaries and victimizations, the homeowner and the family knew the identity of the intruder. Only 28% of then were strangers. Pretty scary huh? It just goes to show you never know who you can trust.

According to these reports and statistics, it has been shown that hardened criminals that invade your home and commit murderer do not discriminate against any one when they set out to compete the crime. If they are interrupted or if the household member refuses their demands, they most likely will become victimized. Don’t be a statistic and more importantly don’t become a victim of violence.
